The role of the Alaska Society of American Foresters Policy Committee is to advise the AKSAF executive committee on forest policy issues occurring in the state. Also, the policy committee strives to inform and engage the AKSAF membership on current policy matters. AKSAF participates in the political and administrative processes that generate policy by presenting our views to policy makers. These views are communicated by drafting position statements.
Position Statements
These are the position statements of Alaska SAF and National SAF. Position statements written by Alaska SAF address how how forestry is conducted in the state of Alaska and are meant to complement the position statements produced by National SAF.
In addition, Alaska SAF has submitted policy letters on issues. Policy letters that are older than 2019 are available here.
