Forestry Lunch Breaks: Hardwoods of Western Washington

December 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm PST

In western Washington, hardwoods have largely been ignored or maligned in favor of more valuable commercial timber species like Doug-fir and other conifers.  However, hardwoods provide significant benefits to forests, wildlife, and people.  In this series, we’ll explore common hardwood species in the region, their characteristics, uses, and potential management.  Tune in, eat lunch, and to get to know a hardwood species a little better!

Schedule:

  • Monday (12/12) – Red alder (Alnus rubra)
  • Tuesday (12/13) – Bigleaf maple (Acer macrophylla)
  • Wednesday (12/14) – Oregon white oak (Quercus garryana)
  • Thursday (12/15) – Oregon ash (Fraxinus latifolia)

Each session is scheduled from 12-12:30 p.m.

This seminar will be offered via a live, interactive webinar. A high-speed internet connection is needed. Dial-up will not work. You can access the webinar with your computer or mobile device.  Connection information will be sent to those registered the morning of each session.
