Streamside Tour – Duwamish River

June 20, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT

Streamside stewardship activities, such as removing weedy plants and planting natives, can have many environmental benefits for humans and wildlife in our region! Join King Conservation District to tour the Duwamish Gardens restoration project and learn all about invasive and native plants, from identification to removal techniques and plant selection. Then we will visit two nearby properties to see what these projects look like in a backyard and talk about resources available to help homeowners complete these projects.

Topics include:

  • Common riparian weeds: why are they detrimental, how to identify and control different weed species.
  • Native plants: identifying local species, understanding growing requirements, and sourcing plant material.
  • Resources available to help steward your streamside
  • Project planning, permits, and critical area code

Day and time: June 22, 6:00 p.m.-08:00 p.m.
