Watershed Forestry Webinar Series: Phytoremediation for Healthy Watersheds

July 11 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am PDT

The USDA Forest Service’s Eastern Region State, Private, and Tribal Forestry Watershed Forestry Team is launching a new webinar series in summer 2024 for foresters and natural resource professionals.

The quarterly series offers technical information on watershed forestry topics—ranging from silviculture to social science—presented by researchers and practitioners to connect land and water.

The information shared will be relevant to implementing on-the-ground watershed forestry and to establishing and refining the program and social infrastructure required to solve landscape-scale issues.

They will pursue continuing education credits (one Category 1 Continuing Forestry Education Credit) through the Society of American Foresters for attendees of each live webinar. Webinars will be recorded for later viewing.

Sign up for their email list to receive notices and registration links for each webinar.

  • Ron Zalesny (USDA Forest Service) will highlight the science behind phytotechnologies, focusing on silvicultural prescriptions and examples most relevant for watershed partners.
  • Liz Rogers (USDA Forest Service) will discuss cutting edge technologies being developed to increase the effectiveness of phytoremediation.
  • Bart Sexton (Sand County Environmental) will share advances and challenges of real-world phytotechnology applications being used to benefit local communities and enhance ecosystem services throughout watersheds of the United States.
