The Sitka Chapter comprises a portion southeast Alaska on Baranof and Chichagof islands and is centered around the town of Sitka located on the west coast of Baranof Island. Baranof and Chichagof islands are two northerly islands among a larger group of islands known as the Alexander Archipelago characterized by rugged coastal rainforest that rises steeply from the Pacific Ocean.

The landscape is a mosaic of old and young growth coniferous forest in managed and unmanaged condition interspersed with muskeg, scrubland and alpine plant communities. The forests are primarily western hemlock, Sitka spruce and yellow cedar respectively, with higher percentages of Sitka spruce along stream s and other well-drained sites.

Chapter meetings and events are held in Sitka. Contact for calendar dates.
